Inquiry launched into government handling of Harry Dunn’s death, Lammy announces

David Lammy launched an independent investigation into the way Harry Dunn’s death in an accident containing a member of the US intelligence community.
A car deported by 19 -year -old mother Sacoollas was killed in 2019 when she shot a motorcycle near the exit to Raf Croughton in Northamponshire.
Ms. Sacoollas, the wife of a CIA operator working near the air base, was allowed to leave the country with allegations that it was covered with diplomatic immunity. Although President Dunn met his parents, his request for return was first rejected by the first Donald Trump administration.
Sacoollas will later provide evidence of video, but did not return to England for trial because it was not likely to cause imprisonment.
There were criticisms of the way the Foreign and Nations Community Office (FCDO) handled the case and whether more could be done to ensure that Sacoollas returned to England.
The review will be managed by Dame Anne Owers DBE, who will examine the actions taken by the Foreign and Nations Community Office to support the Harry Dunn family in the period between 27 August and December 2019.
Mr. Lammy, who promised to make a investigation while sitting as a deputy of the opposition, met with family members twice after becoming an external secretary and decided to learn from tragedy.
He said: ım I have the deepest respect for the decisions made by Harry’s tragic death since the tragic death of his family, and we honor their commitments to them as we start this independent examination.
“I am sure that the examination of the previous government on how to handle the case has the task necessary to decently address the concerns of the family and to learn the lessons.
“After working with Dame Anne in Lammy in 2017, I do not believe that no one is more qualified to undertake this important job.”
Harry Dunn’s mother Charlotte Charles said: uz We are glad to see that a complete investigation will be done by today’s foreign, community and development office about the handling of Harry’s case.
“Now we look forward to working with Dame Anne Owers and doing our best to support it in this important task. Our work will help to ensure that any other family is not treated as ours.
