Iran War Goals Met, Not Clear What More to Achieve

Sydney: Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said Thursday that the main objectives of the war in Iran have been achieved and it is unclear what more needs to be achieved.

Albanese called for de-escalation, stating that the US-Israeli attacks have disrupted Iran’s air force, navy and military industrial base.

“Now that these goals have been achieved, it is not clear what more needs to be achieved or what the end point looks like,” he said in his speech in the capital Canberra.

“What is clear is that the longer the war lasts, the more significant its impact on the global economy will be.”

Albanese’s comments came as US President Donald Trump gave a highly anticipated speech laying out his view on the war, promising two to three more weeks of “extremely harsh” strikes against Iran.

Trump said the United States aims to crush Iran’s military, end the Islamic Republic’s support for regional armed groups and prevent it from obtaining a nuclear bomb.

“I am pleased to say that these key strategic objectives are nearing completion,” Trump said in his 19-minute televised speech. he said.
