“A Bombardier Challenger 600 crashed while taking off from Bangor International Airport in Maine at approximately 7:45 pm local time on Sunday, January 25. There were eight people on board. The FAA and NTSB will investigate,” the FAA previously said on X (formerly Twitter).

Meanwhile, according to ANI, CNN reported that citing federal records, the plane was recorded to be registered to a limited liability company in Houston. Additionally, the airport was closed after the incident.

USA snowstorm

The crash occurred as a major snowstorm was moving through the northeastern United States, with temperatures in Maine dropping well below freezing, light snow, and visibility at the time being very low.

The massive winter storm in the United States caused power outages to more than a million people, disrupted tens of thousands of flights and killed scores as dangerous cold and snow drifted from the south to the northeast.

Officials in dozens of states reported widespread outages as freezing rain and heavy snow brought down trees and power lines, especially in the South and parts of the Mid-Atlantic.

The storm continues to cripple air travel across the country. More than 30,000 flights have been thrown into chaos and more than 18,000 cancellations since Friday as major airports were forced to halt or severely restrict their operations.

Airlines canceled nearly all flights at Ronald Reagan Washington National, while LaGuardia and other major hubs remained crippled or closed.
