Pyongyang: North Korea has revealed its most powerful nuclear missile, Hwasong-20. The three-stage, solid-fueled intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) is designed to strike anywhere in the United States. Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un called it the country’s most powerful nuclear weapon that could accurately strike all of America.
The missile was displayed during a major military parade to mark the 80th anniversary of the Labor Party on 10 October. There were also delegations from Russia and China.

The Hwasong-20 represents North Korea’s most advanced ICBM to date. Its three solid fuel stages allow it to rapidly gain altitude after launch. The missile has a high-thrust solid-fuel engine of approximately 1,970 kN, which is 40% more powerful than the Hwasong-18. This development allows for longer ranges and higher speeds.
Range: Up to 15,000 km, covers entire United States.
Warhead: Equipped with Multiple Independently Targetable Reentry Vehicles (MIRV); This means that a missile can hit multiple targets simultaneously.
Size: Its estimated length is 25 meters and its weight is over 80 tons.
Launch: Mobile launchers allow for easy concealment.
During the parade, Kim Jong Un emphasized that Hwasong-20 is North Korea’s most powerful nuclear weapon.
Although there have been no test launches so far, experts believe that it will exceed the capabilities of Hwasong-18. The solid-fuel design allows for near-instantaneous launch, making attacks possible without prior warning.
A Show of Power
The parade in Pyongyang on October 10 was a display of military might. Thousands of soldiers, tanks and missiles were displayed. Hwasong-20 was introduced for the first time.
Kim described it as the ultimate weapon against the United States. High-ranking Russian and Chinese officials were also present, including the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and the Chinese Vice President. A hypersonic glide vehicle was also displayed at the parade, signaling Pyongyang’s growing ties with Moscow and Beijing.
Threat to America and the World
Hwasong-20 could reach the entire US mainland, from Alaska to Florida. MIRV capability means a single missile can target multiple American cities. The Pentagon called it a serious threat.
North Korea’s nuclear arsenal is estimated at 50-60 warheads, and the numbers are increasing. The presence of Russia and China in the parade increases tensions in Asia.
Neighboring countries, including South Korea and Japan, have expressed growing concern about the missile’s capabilities and strategic implications.
