‘Intoxicating title fight impossible to call as Hearts refuse to buckle’

The gap between them and Celtic is still six, and they are only four with Rangers; The shark circles the waters at the top, its teeth restored under the direction of Danny Rohl.

The Rangers came out of chaos, humiliation, and anger and got into some serious strife.

It seems completely out of place for a club the size of Rangers whose life is spent under a giant microscope to quietly enter the fray, but that’s the reality.

It seems like only five minutes have passed since the boos at Ibrox, where laughter reigned, were heard from every corner of the country. Now relatively speaking, we hear murmuring from that club.

This league is one of the best of our time; impossible to call but easy to enjoy.

Celtic folk will think they are still tied on points with Rangers and that would have been the case had it not been for that red card, a rarity for them in domestic football.

They will be angry at the decision to send off Trusty for being denied an obvious goal opportunity when they were 2-1 up. Was everything that clear? Martin O’Neill thought no. Derek McInnes thought yes. Funny, that.

Still, it changed some things. There were only 10 minutes left when Trusty had the chance for Braga to equalize; a point blank and a target to the whole world. Kasper Schmeichel denied it. There were only six minutes left, but there were actually eight more minutes at the top. When he ascended to the throne, the real temptation was to cheer.

The equalizer sent Tynecastle into a state of advanced delirium. Just like the first time around, the source of Celtic’s problems was their inability to cope with deliveries into their box.

Honesty regarding their defense should be part of their analysis, as well as their concerns about the red card. When Oisin McEntee nodded towards the back post, Braga slotted the ball goalwards and sent Celtic back in agony.

This league has a way. Any of the top three could win this and either Falkirk and Motherwell could have a say in deciding who wins as they are capable of taking points from the sides above them on their day.

That’s what makes this season so intoxicating; There’s too much danger, too much unpredictability, and too many teams coming to the party.

Celtic thought it was Hearts on Sunday. If they only focus on the red card they are missing the point; It should be obvious to everyone that the Jambos are not nervous.
