Residents ordered to evacuate Cunderdin, South Tammin and Youndegin as bushfire rages

As an out-of-control bushfire threatens lives and homes, people in WA’s Wheatbelt need to “take immediate action to survive”.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has issued an emergency warning for people along Goldfields Road between Quariading Road and Quinn Rodgers Road in parts of Cunderdin, South Tammin and Youndegin.

“You are in danger and must act now to survive,” the warning read.

“There is a threat to lives and homes”

Fire crews are actively fighting the fire, which is moving in a north-east direction towards Northam.

“If the road is clear, move to a safer location immediately,” DFES said.

“Don’t wait and see, leaving at the last minute could endanger your life.”

Drivers are asked to stay away from the area, reduce their speed and drive carefully.

Owners or caretakers of farm animals, pets and companion animals should put their own animal welfare plans in place.
