Iran launches ferocious attack on Israel as missiles strike city – at least 5 dead | World | News

Israeli police announced that five people were killed in the attack in central Israel. The country’s Magen David Adom rescue service had previously put the death toll in Sunday’s attack at four, and a spokesman said the search for additional victims was ongoing.
Iran has fired dozens of rockets at Israel since the United States and Israel launched a surprise attack on Iran on Saturday. Earlier, an explosion occurred in the Iranian capital after Israel said it would carry out “non-stop attacks” against its leaders and army.
Meanwhile, Iran fired more missiles at Israel and Gulf Arab states in retaliation for the killing of its supreme leader in a surprise attack by the United States and Israel that started the widening war.
The explosions in Tehran, whose target is not yet known, released a large cloud of smoke into the sky.
The incident took place in the area where the national police headquarters and Iranian state television, as well as the Tehran Revolutionary Court and the Ministry of Defense building are located.
In Israel, violent explosions resulting from missile impact or interference could be heard from Tel Aviv.
In the post made by the Israel Defense Forces on X, it was said: “The Iranian Regime killed innocent civilians by firing missiles directly into the civilian neighborhood of Beit Shemesh.
“While the Iranian regime deliberately targets civilian targets, we are precisely targeting terrorist targets.
“This is who we are working against; a regime that uses civilian deaths as a war tactic.”
An eyewitness told Israeli news channel Yediotnews25: “This was a direct injury in a public shelter. They landed in the shelter and the missile hit it. I think the death toll is much higher than what has been reported so far, the vast majority of those killed are children.”
A missile launched by Iran yesterday hit an area near the Old City of Jerusalem, just a few hundred meters from the Western Wall and the Temple Mount.
