Iran launches huge cyberattacks against US as ‘critical infrastructure’ hit | World | News

Iran launched major cyberattacks against the United States, just hours before Donald Trump’s deadline for Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz expires or face complete destruction. The US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency has warned that actors affiliated with Tehran are “conducting exploit activity” targeting specific devices.
Stating that hackers are disrupting critical infrastructure sectors and causing financial losses through “malicious interactions”, the organization called on US organizations to urgently review their networks “to reduce the risk of compromise”. The agency had previously reported that CyberAv3ngers, a group affiliated with the Cyber Electronics Command (CEC) of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), had engaged in similar activities.
The agency said: “Advanced persistent threat (APT) actors affiliated with Iran are conducting exploits targeting internet-facing operational technology (OT) devices, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs) manufactured by Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley.
“This activity caused PLC outages across multiple critical infrastructure sectors in the US through malicious interactions with the project file and manipulation of data on human machine interface (HMI) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) displays, resulting in operational disruption and financial loss.
“U.S. agencies should urgently review the tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) and indicators of compromise (IOCs) in this advisory for indicators of current or past activity in their networks and implement the recommendations listed in the Mitigation Measures section of this advisory to reduce the risk of compromise.”
This comes after the US President warned that “an entire civilization could die tonight” if Iran does not comply with his demand to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Taking to Truth Social on Tuesday afternoon, just hours away from the deadline he set over the Easter holidays, he seemingly threatened Iran with utter devastation.
He wrote on the social media platform: “Tonight an entire civilization will die and never be brought back. I don’t want it to happen but it probably will.”
“But now that we are experiencing Complete and Total Regime Change, dominated by different, smarter and less radicalized minds, maybe something revolutionary will happen, WHO KNOWS?
“Tonight we will learn about one of the most important moments in the world’s long and complex history. 47 years of usurpation, corruption and death will finally come to an end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!”
