Iran war LIVE: Tehran laughs off Trump’s threat as new Strait of Hormuz deadline looms | World | News

Iran laughs off Donald Trump’s latest threat; a navy commander claimed that his forces were “tracking and monitoring all movements of the aggressive US military in the region.” Over the weekend, after peace talks in Pakistan collapsed, Mr. Trump announced the start of a U.S.-led blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

The new deadline set by the US leader is April 13 at 15.00 CET. But Iran appeared to defy the threat to see “any ship” attempt to enter the key waterway, where around 20% of the world’s oil transits are banned from entering or exiting. Iranian state broadcaster Press TV shared the following statement from Iranian Navy Commander Shahram Irani: “The threats made by the US president after the humiliating defeat his army suffered in the third war, the naval blockade of Iran, are ridiculous and ridiculous.”
