Iran war LIVE UK finally steps up to lead mission to clear Hormuz | UK | News

Britain is leading international talks on a two-phase operation to clear and reopen the Strait of Hormuz once hostilities end, defense officials said.
The reported plan focuses on deploying Royal Navy ships equipped with torpedo-shaped mine-hunting drones to sweep Iranian munitions from the narrow waterway that separates the Persian Gulf from the Gulf of Oman.
Once the strait is declared safe, a multinational escort mission consisting of both crewed and uncrewed ships will direct merchant ships back through the gorge to restore the flow of global trade.
Chief of the defense staff, Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Knighton, chaired a meeting on Sunday of senior defense officials from France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Japan and Canada to progress the planning.
