India U19 cricket team, led by Ayush Mhatre, will face Pakistan U19 in the U19 Asia Cup final on Sunday, December 21. This highly anticipated match will take place at the ICC Academy in Dubai. India beat Sri Lanka in the semi-finals to secure their place in the final, while Pakistan defeated Bangladesh in the qualifying match. Indian bowlers put in an outstanding performance, restricting Sri Lanka to just 138 runs. Due to rain in Dubai, the match was shortened to 20 overs per side.
The Boys in Blue had a tough start to their chase and lost openers Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi early on. While skipper Mhatre was dismissed for 7 runs, Suryavanshi managed to score 9 runs off 6 balls.
However, Aaron George and Vihaan Malhotra formed a crucial partnership as they combined for 114 runs for the third wicket. George finished the innings with 58 runs from 49 balls. Malhotra was also unbeaten, scoring 61 off 45 balls at an impressive strike rate of 135.56.
Pakistan, on the other hand, successfully chased down the target of 122 runs in the semi-final, leaving Bangladesh all out for 121 and completing the chase in just 16.3 overs. This match was also reduced to 27 overs per side due to the wet outfield.
Earlier in the league stage, India and Pakistan faced each other once, with India securing a crucial victory by 90 runs. George was the standout player, scoring 85 off 88 balls in a total of 240 balls. Meanwhile, Kanishk Chouhan and Deepesh Devendran took 3 wickets each, helping Pakistan prevail by 150 runs. Kanishk also contributed with the bat and bowled 46 balls.
