Iran’s security services ‘shoot at protesters’ as mass protests threaten regime | World | News

Iran’s security services have been accused of opening fire on protesters as the country descended into chaos.
Independent Iranian journalist Amirhossein Miresmaeili claimed in X that Iranian police opened fire on protesters in Yasuj, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province.
He said: “Tonight, on 15 Dey in Yasuj, as in many cities of Iran, although the repressive forces with several times greater presence are opening fire and blocking the streets in order to prevent large gatherings from occurring, the people remain determined and shout “Long live the Shah” under gunfire, in chases and chases and in the midst of tear gas.”
This comes after at least three children were reportedly killed following 8 days of protests in which police were accused of “indiscriminately targeting civilians”.
In Iran, protests have spread to 78 cities and 222 locations as the struggling economy sparks renewed anger and calls for an end to the regime.
According to Human Rights Activists in Iran, 990 people have been arrested and at least 20 killed so far.
Awyar Shekhi of Hengaw said: Guard: “State forces open direct fire on meetings and protests, regardless of whether those targeted are children or adults. The crackdown is brutal: tear gas and military-grade weapons are used, and detainees are severely beaten before being transferred to undisclosed locations.”
