There are Australians Reduced approval of Sussan Ley’s performance After a month of instability, leaks, resignations and dismissals in the Liberal Party, findings have emerged that will put pressure on the opposition leader and increase speculation about his political future.
Only 33 percent of voters rated Ley’s performance as good or very good (an 8 percent drop in a single month), while 38 percent rated it as poor or very poor, down from 32 percent last month. This finding puts Ley’s net rating at minus 5; That’s well beyond the margin of error, down 14 percent from last month’s plus 9.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s performance rating also went down: 41 per cent of voters said his performance was good or very good (down from 44 per cent last month) and 47 per cent said it was poor or very poor, up from 45 per cent last month. This represents a net decline of 5 percent and a net rating of minus 6, again outside the margin of error.
However, as Ley’s approval ratings fell further, Albanese’s lead over Ley as preferred prime minister increased by five percentage points last month, from 38-26 to 40-23, for a clear margin of 17 points.
Labor’s preselection vote fell from 35 per cent to 34 per cent last month – a move within the margin of error, but it is the second month in a row that the government has lost ground – while the Coalition’s vote rose one point this month, from 27 per cent to 28 per cent, after falling two points last month.
