Israel says it hit Syrian government targets after attacks on Druze civilians

March 20 (Reuters) – The Israeli army struck Syrian government infrastructure facilities overnight in response to attacks on Druze civilians in Sweida, the Israeli military said on Friday.

The Syrian foreign ministry condemned Israel’s attack on military infrastructure in southern Syria, calling it a “blatant violation” of international law and an attack on the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The ministry said the attack was part of what it called Israel’s policy of escalation, accusing it of trying to destabilize the region and adding that Damascus held Israel entirely responsible for the consequences of the escalation.
