Israel strikes Hezbollah targets in Lebanon

The Israeli army announced that it carried out attacks on many targets in Lebanon.
Weapons storage facilities and rocket launchers belonging to Hezbollah militias were attacked in various parts of southern Lebanon, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement on Telegram early Sunday.
“The presence of the shot weapons meant a violation of the ceasefire agreements between Israel and Lebanon,” the statement said.
The allegations could not initially be independently verified. The army did not provide information about possible casualties.
As part of the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah that has been in effect since the end of November 2024, Iran-backed Shiite militias had to be disarmed.
The important deadline given by the Lebanese government to the army to disarm Hezbollah ended at the end of December.
Following its latest attacks, Hezbollah continues its attempts to rebuild its “terrorist infrastructure in southern Lebanon”, the IDF said.
The Israeli army launches attacks on Lebanon almost every day, despite the ceasefire.
According to Lebanese government figures, more than 300 people have died since the ceasefire came into force. The United Nations says more than 100 of them were civilians.
“The IDF will continue to work to eliminate any threat to the State of Israel,” the military said.
