India Records 56 Lakh Foreign Tourist Arrivals Till Aug This Year

According to official data released on Friday, India recorded approximately 56 Lakh Foreign Tourists (FTA) and 303.59 Crore local tourist visits until August this year.
In 2025 (until April), the total number of FTAs for medical purposes in India was 1,31,856, which made up approximately 4.1 percent of total FTAs in this period, according to government data. In the 2024-25 financial year, 40 projects in 23 states were approved for 3,295.76 RS with 100 percent financing in 23 states within the scope of Sustainable and Responsible Tourism (SASCI) initiative.
Through ‘Swadesh Darshan’ and ‘Swadesh Darshan 2.0’, 110 projects have been developed in various thematic circuits, including Ramaya, Buddhist, coastal and tribal circuits.

Tourism is one of the largest economic sectors that contribute to exports and promote global welfare.

In 2014-15, the Ministry of Tourism launched the Swadesh Darshan program (SDS) to develop thematic tourism circuits throughout the country. 75 Projects Sanctions were imposed on 5.290.30 RRR under the physically completed defined themes.
