Israeli army kills three men in Gaza Strip, medics say

The Israeli army killed three Palestinian men in two separate airstrikes in the Gaza Strip, local health officials and medics said, in the latest round of deadly violence despite a more than five-month-old U.S.-brokered ceasefire.

Palestinian health officials said one person was killed in an airstrike on a vehicle in the Khan Younis district in the south of the region, while medics said two adult brothers were killed in the Shujiaya neighborhood in the east of Gaza City.

The Israeli military did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the two airstrikes.

The army has killed more than 680 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip since a ceasefire with Hamas took effect in November, local health officials said.

More than 72,000 people have been killed since the war began in October 2023.

Israel is also currently waging a war against Iran alongside the United States and a new campaign against Hezbollah, where Israeli forces have occupied southern Lebanon.

Hamas-affiliated Shehab News Agency said the brothers were killed in an Israeli army airstrike after Israeli-backed Palestinian militias tried to kidnap them in the Gaza Strip.

Neither Hamas nor any other militant group has identified the brothers as members.

Eyewitnesses told Reuters that the two armed brothers clashed with militiamen and were later targeted by drones.

Witnesses also reported that Israeli tanks opened fire.

Violence in the Gaza Strip has continued amid a ceasefire and Israel’s war with Iran.

Health officials in the region say at least 40 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since the conflict in Iran began a month ago.
