Ex-NFL player has been missing for 7 months, sister says

The sister of former New York Giants linebacker Sam Beal has asked for the public’s help in finding her brother, who has been missing for nearly seven months.
Essence Zhane used her Facebook page Monday to ask anyone who may have seen Beal to contact the Kentwood Police Department in Virginia.

“Tomorrow will mark 7 months since we last heard from or saw my brother,” he wrote on social media. “We’ve done everything we can to put everything together and we desperately need support from all angles at this point. I’m not here to answer a bunch of why and how questions, I just need this to land in the right direction to get some kind of answers or closure.”
“I’m a big sister and I need my brother to know that we love you and miss you and that’s a heavy feeling he’s had to carry for months.”
The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System database said Beal last had contact with loved ones on July 13, 2025. Beal is missing from Virginia Beach, Virginia.
He is described as having black hair, a muscular and athletic build, and brown eyes.
Beal’s girlfriend was the last person to see the former NFL player. He dropped her off at her parents’ house and she had to go to work. But Beal headed to Virginia Beach. His girlfriend said the last time he heard from him was that he said he was coming home.

An explanation of his disappearance in the database reads: “Samuel brought nothing but the clothes he was wearing, a pair of slides, and his wallet, which contained his bank card and driver’s license.” “The girlfriend’s vehicle was found by a family member in Virginia Beach, VA. The vehicle was found with Samuel’s shoes and socks on the floor of the front passenger seat and some sand on the floor.”
Beal was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and attended high school in the state. He committed to Western Michigan before the Giants took him in the 2018 NFL Supplemental Draft.
He played in games, including starting three games with the Giants during his rookie season in 2019. He missed the entire 2020 season due to COVID-19 opt-out.

Beal pleaded guilty to weapons charges ahead of the 2021 season and was placed on probation for a year.
