J.D. Vance encouraged his opponents migration He called for the UK to “keep it going” and urged the UK to adopt the US approach of border protection. Denying allegations of racism, the US Vice President said it was normal to want to defend your culture and that it was reasonable for people to want to control who came into their country.

Two demonstrations held simultaneously with a pro-Palestinian protest sparked a massive £4.5 million police operation and led to dozens of arrests.
People in the UK were “protesting mass illegal immigration and the alteration of British culture”, the White House press conference heard.
Mr. Vance said: “One of the problems we face in all Western societies is that there are a lot of people — Wall Street bankers, corporate lobbyists and Government officials — who have decided that what the United States and the West need is increasingly cheap labor.
“In the White House, we increasingly believe that what we need are higher wages for American workers and investment in our own people.
“What you see all over the West — and it’s kind of crazy — is the idea that the way to create prosperity is to bring in millions of unregulated people and drop them into your neighborhoods, and we flatly reject that idea.
“So I would encourage anyone in the UK who rejects this idea to move on.”
The Republican politician added: “It’s okay to want to defend your culture. It’s okay to want to live in a safe neighborhood. It’s okay to want your job to be given to you and your neighbors, not to some stranger you don’t know.”
“It makes sense that people in Western societies want to control who comes to their country and who doesn’t.”
Mr. Vance, 41, claimed that many in the media were trying to convince all these people that wanting to protect their borders was somehow racist.
He said this was despite the fact that those hardest hit by low-wage immigration are low-income black and Hispanic Americans in the United States, adding: “I guarantee that’s true in the United Kingdom as well.”
The Vice President added: “So we believe in making America great again. You can’t do that unless you protect your borders. I encourage our friends in the United Kingdom to follow suit.”
It is not the first time Mr Vance has criticized Britain. He claimed the freedoms of religious Britons were on target at the Munich Security Conference last year and raised concerns about freedom of expression in the UK with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer at an Oval Office meeting in February 2025.
He also implied that the UK was a “random country” that had not been at war for decades, despite British soldiers losing their lives in US-led conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been approached for comment.
