Italian restaurant chain Pizza Express will deliver 50,000 pizzas tomorrow if customers wear a black and white striped top. ‘Earn Your Stripes’ campaign celebrates National Pizza, company says day day On Monday, February 9, customers were asked to wear the outfit, which pays homage to the brand’s iconic monochrome aesthetic worn by talented pizza makers.
PizzaExpress marketing manager Lou Jones said: “Our Earn Your Stripes giveaway is such a moment for us and pizza lovers alike! This year we’re giving away more pizza than ever to celebrate PizzaExpress Live’s big 5-0 return, so put on your stripes and join us – there’s no better reason for a pizza party on Monday!”
The promotion comes as the company’s music brand, PizzaExpress Live, looks set to celebrate 50 years of music this year.
A company spokesperson added: “Whether you prefer the original or are craving a vegan or gluten-free Margherita, everyone is invited to win their own prizes at PizzaExpress this National Pizza Day.
“So whether you want to get out of the office for your favorite pizza, miss a college class, or just want to grab your friends and make the most of the 50,000 free pizzas available, grab your striped top and head to your nearest PizzaExpress.”
The brand has bucked the trend followed by many chain restaurants, which have seen venues close in recent years amid difficult economic conditions.
The company has operations in Hong Kong and the UAE, as well as franchise operations in Asia, the Middle East and Europe. With 110 international and franchise sites, the brand has big ambitions and aims to reach 1,000 restaurants worldwide (including the UK) by 2030.
There are around 360 pizzerias in the UK; The company will open a location at London Gatwick airport in 2024 and launch a pizza capsule in the car park of Tesco Extra in Southampton.
