Fremantle Cemetery: Search for a new name to honour Bon Scott of AC/DC abandoned

A Melville City Council Member Fremantle has left a new name search plans for the cemetery.

CR Daniel Lim asked the city’s state government to rename the cemetery during the discussion last month.

The Melville Council voted 7-2 in favor of a proposal of Mayor Karen Wheatland at the July 15 meeting.

Melville’s Scott claim is that she was resting at the Fremantle Cemetery in Palmyra, a part of Melville in 1980, where she spent some of her youth there.

On the agenda of Melville’s August 19 meeting, CR LIM contained an offer from the state government to the cemetery to give a name to a name that reflects its real geographical position in the city of Melville.

But during the meeting, he retreated without a reason.

In his proposal, CR lim said that a new name can make the cemetery a part of the city’s inheritance and cultural tourism strategy – “Potentially, as the ‘dead center’ of Melville’s historical narrative.”

The report of an officer said that Landgate prefers strongly preferred the local place names with cultural importance.

“In line with these guidelines, any approved pair of names will probably add a culturally important ABORİJIN name, which is probably derived from the traditional name of the region, such as Walyalup, while protecting the current name, Fremantle Cemetery,” he said.

“Using this as an example will be the Walyalup Fremantle cemetery.”

AC/DC fans were crying Hell bells last week after Leopold Hotel’s reports would be closed in October.

Scott visited the irrigation hole in Canning Hight, allegedly inspired by the band’s Hight to Hell.

The venue regularly hosted an AC/DC tribute group.
