Met Office issues 18-hour power cut warnings for 31 areas on Saturday | Weather | News

The Met Office has issued new 18-hour weather warnings for the Easter bank holiday weekend; Power cuts are possible in 31 parts of England. Storm Dave is on its way to wreak havoc with winds blowing up to 90 miles per hour.
A rapidly deepening area of low pressure will bring very strong winds late Saturday and into Easter Sunday morning, which could cause travel chaos. Widespread winds of 60-70mph are likely, with the possibility of these gusts intensifying to 80-90mph in open areas. A wind yellow weather warning for Dumfries, Galloway, Lothian and the Scottish borders will come into force from 6pm on Saturday and remain in force until 12pm on Sunday.

As a result of the weather warning, power outages may occur, which have the potential to impact other services such as mobile phone coverage. Large waves can also cause some dangerous situations on windy shores, and injuries from flying debris are possible.
A snow yellow weather warning is in place for north-west Scotland with Storm Dave. The 12-hour warning will be in effect from 15:00 on Saturday until 03:00 on Sunday.
Northern Ireland is also under a yellow wind warning, valid from 14:00 on Saturday until 02:00 on Sunday.
