Nine-year-old Emilia Van Der Beek described the pain she experienced after the death of her father.
James Van Der Beek passed away on February 11 after a courageous battle with stage 3 colorectal cancer. He was 48 years old.
To honor her 49th birthday, Kimberly Van Der Beek shared a video her daughters recorded to share on social media.
“As you all probably know by now, my father passed away, but I’ll just give you little tips or tell you anything that will help you get past anyone you love,” the little one began.

“So today is my dad’s birthday and the No. 1 thing for someone who has passed away is to talk to them and get your feelings out. If you miss them you can cry, you can talk to them. I talk to my dad every day and I start with one sentence and say, ‘Hi dad, I miss you and I love you so much and I will never stop loving you.’ “I say.”
