Elephant runs amok at temple, mahout injured

An elephant behaved unruly and injured one of its grooms at the Sree Poornathrayeesa Temple in Thripunithura on Sunday. The tusker, Chamapuzha Unnikrishnan, went berserk around 8.15pm as he was being brought into the temple for procession during the Athazha Seeveli ritual.

When the elephant ran towards the Devaswom office and remained there, the temple workers managed to get the panicked devotees out of the temple.

Tucker was taken under control later in the night. The injured elephant was taken to a private hospital.
