Luxembourg gets new grand duke as his father abdicates
Grand Duke Guillaume swore to rise to the throne of Luxembourg with a traditional ceremony attended by Royals and European heads of state.
Church bells, just before hundreds of crowds outside the big palace, “Guillaume, Guillaume!” The new Grand Duke walked to a balcony to greet his new topics.
The 43 -year -old Grand Duke Guillaume was surrounded by the royal family, including his wife Grand Duchess Stéphanie, who wears a military uniform of olive green with a yellow wing.
They called two children, both covered with shorts – five and two -year -old François.
Just a few minutes ago, Guillaume took the throne after swearing Egemen’s oath in Luxembourg Parliament.

Grand Duke Guillaume takes over from his 70 -year -old father Henri, who has been a great symbolic role for 25 years.
The crowd gathered outside the yellow stone and fancy towers of the palace, carried the photographs of the new Grand Duke and Duchess, the flags of Luxembourg and the red lion and orange fields of the Nassau Royal House.
Some people’s faces were painted on the flag of Luxembourg: red, white and light blue.
Throughout the entire old city of Luxembourg, the showcases were portraits of the royal couple and the “Trounweissel” or “ascension to the throne” in Luxembourg.
Neocleousk, 18, wore a luxury flag on his shoulders and wished Grand Duke well in Luxembourg.
“Maach Dat Gudd! Du Packs Dat!” He said, “Do it well, you’ll succeed”.
Royals from the Netherlands and Belgium attended the ceremonies.
Later on Friday, the new Grand Duke will host the gala for guests such as French President Emmanuel Macron and German president Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
Guillaume has been the seventh Grand Duke of Luxembourg since 1890, when modern monarchy was founded.
On Saturdays and Sundays, he will visit the new world, a small shop of 700,000 citizens in the heart of Europe.
The tour will end with a market mass at the Archbishop Jean-Claude Hollerich and Catholic Notre-Dame de Luxembourg Cathedral.
In the 17th and 19th centuries, the small country, which is currently separated from France, Belgium and some of Germany, is the Great Duke, which resembles King Charles in the United Kingdom or King Philippe in Belgium, and parliament democracy as president.
