Iranians mourn top commanders killed in Israeli strikes

Khamenei, who did not make a public appearance before the war broke out, prayed on the coffins for the commanders who had fallen before the open ceremonies broadcasted on past funerals and then on the state television.

For 12 days before a ceasefire was declared on Tuesday, Israel hit eight nuclear facilities and more than 720 military infrastructure areas, while 30 Iranian commanders and 11 nuclear scientists claimed to have killed.

According to the Washington -based human rights activists group, more than 1000 people have died, including at least 417 civilians.

Iran fired more than 550 ballistic missiles to Israel, most of them have been cut off, but the passes caused damage to many areas and killed 28 people.

The ceremonies on Saturday were the first public funeral ceremony for the best commanders since the ceasefire, and Iranian state television reported that they were for a total of 60 people, including four women and four children.

Authorities closed the government offices to allow public officials to attend ceremonies.

Iran has always insisted that the nuclear program only for peaceful purposes, but Israel sees it as an existential threat and said its military campaign is necessary to prevent Iran from building an atomic weapon.

When Khamenei’s last public appearance came together with the 86 -year -old Iranian parliamentarians, it was June 11, two days before the hostility of Israel erupted.
