During his career, Biffle claimed 19 Cup victories, including prestigious races such as the Southern 500 at Darlington, and finished second in the 2005 championship standings.
A perennial playoff contender, he finished in the top 10 six times and was recognized as one of NASCAR’s 75 Greatest Drivers.

Eyewitnesses reported that there was a huge explosion at the moment of impact. Authorities confirmed the deaths of six people, including Biffle, his wife, children and others on board.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating why, and the racing community is pouring in praise for a driver known for his fearlessness on the track as well as his generosity off it.
