Jay Slater was found dead at a tenerife ravine last summer

One of the last people speaking to Jay Slater, hearing a 19 -year -old investigation, he said he did not seem to be threatened on a nightclub in Airbnb.

Lancashire disappeared on June 17, 2024 on Spanish Island shortly after talking to his friend Bradley Geoghegan on the phone.

Coroner Dr. James asked Adeley if Mr. Slater said, “If he appeared under fearful or under pressure,” Mr. Geoghehan said: “No,” he added, “probably … Extracted and decided to come back.”

A big search was started and his body was found in a valley near Masca village on July 15th.

The investigation heard that one night he took drugs and alcohol outside and had a 14 -hour walk.

Instead of going back to the apartment where Mr. Slater was very drunk and shared with Mr. Geoghegan, the court went to Airbnb, miles away with two men they met during the holidays.

The next morning, Mr. Geoghegan said that he had a video interview from Mr. Slater, who was walking along a road and was still “influenced”.

Mr. Geoghegan said: “I said, put your maps to see how far you are. It was like a 14 -hour walk or a one -hour driving.

“I said, ‘Take a taxi back’, then only ‘I’ll pull you back’.”

The witness said that his friend did not think he had money on him and insisted on paying the taxis in Tenerife before he was paid a fee.

Coroner Dr James Adeley witnessed the witness: “Did you get the impression that he was in any way threatened or fearful, or is it under pressure in a difficult situation?”

Mr. Geoghegan replied: “No. I think he probably came there and said, ‘Why am I here?’ He thought, sober and decided to come back. “

Mr Slater went to the NRG Music Festival with his friends at Papagayo nightclub in Playa de Las Americas on June 16 last year.

Mr. Slater disappeared in the morning after he went to Airbnb, and he was reportedly lost to the Spanish police on June 18th.

The evidence during the investigation claimed that he had left the holiday and that he tried to return to his own apartment after he could not get a bus or taxi and fell into a valley from height.

Almost a month later, a big search was initiated by a mountain rescue team before the body was found.

‘No evidence of attack’

Mr. Slater’s mother Debbie Duncan wanted to investigate about death on Thursday after a series of witnesses Did not attend the last hearing May.

Dr. Adeley agreed to postpone the witnesses at the hours before his disappearance and the monitoring query with him.

The hearing in May received a series of witnesses, including toxicology specialist Dr Stephanie Martin.

The next witness Ayub Qassim said that he and a friend Steven Roccas met Mr. Slater and his friends at Tenerife.

He said he was in a different place, and then Mr. Slater and Mr. Geoghegan took something to eat after the clubs were closed.

Mr. Slater asked if he could go back to Mr. Roccas’ apartment.

Mr. Qassim, who gave evidence through the video, said to the hearing: “I said, ‘bro, oh friend, far from the lane’.

“There is nothing except the landscape there. I told him I would leave him in the morning. He rolled with us.”

‘I didn’t play’

Coroner then asked the messages that Mr. Slater sent a stolen watch from the witness.

A Snapchat video was shown to the investigation, a “12k Rolly” and “a subtitle referring to” buying 10 pounds “and a short clip of a car panel.

“Jay did not play hours. I can say one hundred percent.”

When he wanted to explain Mr. Slater’s social media post, the witness said: “He can boast his friends. On a buzz, maybe may be. Sometimes people exaggerate.”

Coroner said: “But as long as you worry, isn’t it right?”

Mr. Qassim said: “No. Hundred percent. I didn’t see an hour. At this point, it’s just firing messages.”

When they came to Airbnb, he said that he had given Mr. Slater a blanket and a pillow and that he could sleep on the couch before going to his own bed.
