Jeff Bridges returns as ‘The Dude’ to criticize ICE raids on Kimmel show

Actor Jeff Bridges appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” He briefly reprized his role as “The Dude” in the movie “The Big Lebowski” in what turned out to be an attack on US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on his show. Tuesday night.
While promoting his latest film, “Tron: Ares,” the 75-year-old actor was asked about his iconic role in the 1998 film. Kimmel encouraged Bridges to “call on the Dude” to share some “words of wisdom” for the current times.
In contrast, Bridges wore a cardigan and held a White Russian cocktail while addressing the audience.

“Hello world. Dude’s here,” Bridges said. “Can we all calm down? I mean, come on, I’m talking about all the wars, the fights, the cancellations, I mean, let’s calm down a little bit man, come on. Let’s calm down a little bit. Are we at nine or something? We should be at zero. Or zero and a half maximum, right?”
Bridges then turned his attention to ICE operations across the country, saying they needed to “get off our streets.”
“ICE! Let’s get ICE off our streets and into our drinks. This aggression isn’t going to continue, right? So let’s all stick together. Yeah, we can do that. Now that’s kind of my opinion, but it’s a good idea, don’t you think?” He said bridges.
“That’s a pretty cool idea,” Kimmel agreed. “Thank you, man.”
In a comment to Fox News Digital, Department of Homeland Security deputy secretary Tricia McLaughlin joked that Jeff Bridges “should Google” and called his comments about ICE “disgusting.”

“The media, defector politicians, and Hollywood elites must stop demonizing our brave law enforcement officers who have terrorists opening fire on them, having cars used as weapons against them, having their families’ personal information erased online, and even having bounties put on their heads by criminal gangs. Stop this before they kill someone,” McLaughlin said.
White House deputy press secretary Liz Huston also told Fox News Digital when reached for comment: “Jeff Bridges hasn’t been in the spotlight since the 20th century. It makes complete sense for low-rated loser Jimmy Kimmel to have Jeff Bridges on his show to deal with Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
Bridges is among many Hollywood celebrities who have spoken out against ICE operations, particularly the raids in Los Angeles.
Kimmel, who recorded his show in Los Angeles, also provided a video. Monologue against ICE raids and President Donald Trump in June.

“I’m so angry,” Kimmel said. “I have to say, I can’t believe what’s happening. I knew it was going to be bad. I didn’t know it was going to be this bad… People who have lived here all their lives, who have lived in this city longer than me, who have mostly never done anything wrong, are being kidnapped from the streets and workplaces by masked agents, to put it best, hiding their identities, and being sent to detention centers.”

He continued, “And it is not only our right but our responsibility as Americans to protest this. Los Angeles residents are rallying to demonstrate their opposition and, with very few exceptions, to demonstrate peacefully against this disgusting and unnecessary abuse of power incited by our mentally ill President who is determined to make it worse.”
