Snow maps show 662-mile blizzard as far south as London – full list of 22 cities hit | Weather | News

A 662-mile-long blizzard will hit England from London to Thurso at the tip of Scotland within weeks, according to weather forecasts. WXCharts maps have predicted that snow will hit northern England on February 1, and much of southern England could also be covered by February 3, with 22 cities across Britain affected.

According to the winter outlook, a band of rain will fall across the Channel on the morning of February 3, falling as snow in some areas as temperatures drop below freezing. Then around midnight the rain will move towards the North Sea and clear from the Channel, leaving behind a huge band of snow that will continue to fall overnight until 4 February.

In Scotland, a staggering 91cm of snow is expected on the Aberdeenshire and Perthshire border; It could drop to -5C here and heavy rainfall is expected in the center of the country.

In England, up to 7cm of dust could fall in Northumberland and 11cm of snow could fall on the coast in Cumbria. This combination could lead to icy roads, as the expected minimum temperature in the north at 6am on February 3 is -4C.

Up to 8cm of snow is expected in Norfolk and Suffolk, which could continue until late at night. Snowfall in the Midlands ranges from 1 to 4 cm.

Maps suggest North Yorkshire and East Yorkshire may remain dry, as will the south coast of England. Light snow is expected in northern Wales, while Northern Ireland looks set to escape extreme weather.

The Met Office admits snow forecasting is difficult. The long-range forecast from 25 January to 3 February predicted that mild conditions would likely become “slightly colder”, bringing the risk of snowfall; These risks are most likely to be in the hills of Scotland and northern England.
