Hyderabad experienced one of its coldest nights in recent years, with a strong cold wave sending temperatures down to single digits at the University of Hyderabad, with a low of 6.3 degrees Celsius. IMD predicts clear skies, nice days around 29 degrees and cool nights around 11-12 degrees.
Hyderabad witnessed one of the coldest nights in recent years as temperatures dropped sharply across the city in the early hours of Thursday. Many neighborhoods recorded their lowest minimum temperatures in nearly seven years; The ongoing cold wave has ravaged Telangana, bringing bitter winds and unusually cold mornings.
Hyderabad Records Rare Single Digit Temperatures
According to independent forecaster Hyderabad Rains on X, temperatures in many parts of the city fell well below the seasonal average. Readings taken early in the morning of December 12 showed a significant drop overnight:

Many of these areas dropped to single-digit temperatures for the first time this winter, marking a rare cold spell for the city.
IMD Forecast: Clear Skies, Great Days Ahead
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that the weather will be mostly clear for the next week, with partly cloudy weather in the afternoon or evening. For now, the city can expect:
Daytime temperatures: around 29 degrees
Night temperatures: 11–12 degrees
Humidity: Light to moderate
Weather warnings: None
IMD expects the cold wave pattern to continue even if the weather remains dry and stable.
Cold Wave Seizes Telangana
More detailed temperature data across Telangana will be released soon and initial indications show that some areas experienced unusually low temperatures overnight, officials said.
As the cold wave continues, Hyderabadis need to be ready for colder weather in the early morning hours. While daytime conditions are still pleasant, winter has finally arrived in full force, bringing back heaters, warm clothing, and early morning fog across the city.
