Jess Glynne gushes she ‘can’t wait’ to have girlfriend Alex Scott home as she leaves Australia early after I’m A Celeb amid the singer’s mother’s illness

Jess Glynne has said she is ‘waiting’ for girlfriend Alex Scott to return home after it was revealed she will soon be returning home early.

The 41-year-old sports presenter is leaving I’m A Celebrity early to return to the UK to be with Jess while she deals with her mother’s brain surgery.

The celebrities are required to stay in Australia for the entire time until the final contestant is eliminated, but Alex broke it to go home and support Jess.

Earlier this week, Jess revealed that she was unable to travel to Australia and meet Alex on the bridge as her loved ones usually do because her mother was unwell.

Ahead of her return on Saturday night, Jess wrote in a post: ‘Winner forever! He walked through the forest and was nothing but himself from beginning to end.

‘We saw you, we saw you and we love you! ‘I can’t wait for you to come home, woman.’

She revealed Jess’s mother Alexandra almost couldn’t make it to Australia after suffering a massive stroke that left her needing brain surgery.

In an emotional interview with the Daily Mail, Alex revealed that it was singer Jess who convinced him to leave despite the devastating news in the family; But she spent her time on the ITV show fearing her mother’s condition could get worse if her partner wasn’t there to meet her at the forest bridge.

Speaking after his exit from the show on Friday night, Alex said: ‘It was a difficult time for us and of course his family and it was a difficult decision to come to the jungle.

‘But Jess never wanted me to stop doing it. If his mother wasn’t getting better, or if things were getting worse, which they did, I knew there was always a chance he wouldn’t be able to cross the bridge.

‘But it was a big decision for me to jump at this opportunity, and Jess was the one who pushed me to be here.’

The couple had kept their family’s grief a secret while the BBC One Show host was on the reality show.

But after she became the first person eliminated on Friday night and questions arose about why Jess wasn’t there to greet her, as were her friends and family, the Hold My Hand singer broke her silence.

She wrote on Instagram: ‘I wanted to share something personal, in the last few weeks my mum had a massive stroke and needed emergency surgery.

‘It was a really serious, life-changing time for my family and I had to stay close to home. Alex always wanted me to be where I was needed most. ‘I can’t wait to have him with me again.’

Despite not being there, Jess and Alex, 36, spoke immediately after the former Football Focus presenter’s interview with hosts Ant and Dec.

And in that phone call, Jess told Alex she didn’t think she had much airtime and chastised the channel for not showing her “fun” side.

My woman may have come out a lot sooner than she deserved but I’m incredibly proud of her,” Jess said in an Instagram statement.

‘He didn’t get the airtime to show how incredible he really is.’

Alex also talked about how he was framed in the series, explaining that it was because he thought it was too boring, even with the most sincere confessions.
