Follow AFL State of Origin 2026, results, odds, squads and start time from Optus Stadium in Perth
First impressions are building at Perth Stadium this arvo – well, arvo on the WA timetable – it’s hot.
Mercury hovers around 30 degrees and feels it in every aspect.

If it was a tennis center they would consider covering the roof.
It’s not unexpected, though; We’re playing football in Perth in mid-February.
However, both teams will need each of the seven traded players.
But this did not deter the crowd; I’m guessing there will be 10 Sandgropers to one Vic when they start piling into the stands.
At this stage the stadium is about a third full.
Perth brothers Fynn and Digby Stokes have arrived with a “Kick A Vic” poster and think the West Australians are underdogs.
“People say Vic is too strong, but home side is home advantage,” says Finn.
“Yes, WA got it,” Digby adds.
So which Vics do the brothers think will stop the narrow-minded household from mocking loudest?
“All the midfielders are very good,” says Finn, before his younger brother Digby intervenes:
“Probably Baz.” Then they burst out laughing.
Sorry Bailey Smith, it looks like it’s going to be a little warmer tonight.
