Three Dead, Dozens Wounded in Mexico City Gas Truck Blast

Mexico City: Municipal officials said that three people were killed when a gas truck exploded in Mexico City on Wednesday and 67 were injured.

Mexico City Mayor Clara Brugada said that the vehicle exploded on a bridge in the east of the capital in a bridge with dense popular population and left 19 people with second and third -degree burns. He then announced that three people were killed and 67 injured people were treated in regional hospitals, including several children.

Images distributed on television and social networks show the strong burst.

While people seem to be serious burns, others near the disaster area escape the fast -spreading flames, which were later controlled by firefighters.

A few other vehicles were damaged in the explosion, the reasons are not yet unknown.

The images showed a burning truck carrying 49,500 liters of gas on the road.

Duman from Inferno reached a nearby Trolleybus station, one of the main transportation modes in the city with a population of 9.2 million.

Iztapalapa is home to 1.8 million of them, one of the most populous regions of the country.

Mexican fuel trucks and hydrocarbon infrastructure are not foreign to disasters.

Worst of all, in January 2019, a fire on a pipeline and then the explosion killed 137 people in the town of Tlahuelilpan in the central province of Hidalgo.
