A suspected terrorist allegedly linked to the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, has been arrested in Louisiana. House Speaker Mike Johnson called this statement “alarming,” accusing the former Biden administration’s border policies of allowing the suspect to enter the country.
Johnson said in his “Sunday Briefing”: “I had no idea. It’s worrying for all of us, but I’m certainly glad we have an administration that is prioritizing rounding up these dangerous people. It’s been a huge relief for a lot of people out there.”

Mahmoud Amin Ya’qub Al-Muhtadi, a Gaza resident living in Louisiana, was arrested by the FBI in early October. The Justice Department said Al-Muhtadi was an agent of a paramilitary group participating in Hamas’ 2023 attack on Israel.
According to Israeli officials, the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023 killed nearly 1,200 people and sparked the ongoing war in the Middle East that has killed tens of thousands of people in Gaza.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said records show the suspect entered the United States using a fraudulently obtained visa in September 2024, nearly a year after the attack.

“After hiding in the United States, this monster was found and accused of participating in the persecution of October 7, the deadliest day for the Jewish people since the Holocaust.” Attorney General Pamela Bondi said: in a press release.

Johnson and other Republicans frequently criticized the former Biden administration’s border and immigration policies. A study by the Pew Research Center revealed that the “unauthorized immigrant population” has increased to a record level of 14 million in 2023.

“His borders were completely open,” Johnson said, He warned that the effects could last for decades.

“We know terrorists are crossing the border, and I don’t think anyone on planet Earth can discern exactly how many there are. We will probably live with the threat and consequences of this open border for the rest of our lives,” he said.
