A recent event is an excellent sign that former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden are on the way out, ABC News correspondent Jonathan Karl said in a new interview.

Karl spoke with news personality and podcaster Katie Couric in last week’s program He explained that Obama and Biden were seen eating at Café Milano one night in Washington DC last month, and that security details had to make room for each other, but Obama and the former vice president did not cross paths.

“They never interacted, were they in the same restaurant?” Couric asked in disbelief. “How are their relationships?”

“Really bad. Really bad,” Karl responded on the Nov. 6 podcast. “Biden and those around him place a lot of blame on Barack Obama for trying to remove Biden from the campaign.”

Karl has been doing media tours to promote his new book, “Revenge,” a behind-the-scenes look at the historic 2024 election.

Karl recalled that Hunter Biden was enraged when he saw Obama grab his father’s arm and lead him offstage at a fundraiser last summer, making then-President Biden look weak. At the time, Biden was still the Democratic Party’s 2024 nominee, and his allies had largely publicly dismissed concerns about his viability.

“This is not a good relationship. If they wanted to see each other, they would definitely see each other,” Karl said about the night he witnessed at the restaurant. Here’s what happened: Covered in Politico last month.

Karl also noted that, like Kamala Harris, Biden made several phone calls to provide support to Harris after she abandoned her candidacy last year.

“I was very surprised to hear that the only person he didn’t call was Barack Obama, the person who actually made it possible for him to become president by making him vice president,” Karl said. “He didn’t call him then. From what I learned, Obama called to talk to Biden. He didn’t accept the call and neither of them spoke for weeks.”

“It’s so dysfunctional,” Couric said.

Fox News Digital reached out to Biden and Obama’s offices but did not immediately receive a response.
