‘Major disruption’ warning at UK airport as workers announce huge strike | UK | News

A UK Airport will be hit with a great deterioration as workers vote to strike. Unite Union announced that 80 personnel at Bournemouth Airport will pass through payment disputes.

The members of the luggage, check-in, flight, and aircraft fueling voted to reject a new payment agreement and will strike within a few weeks. The action will take place on 30 September, 1 October, 16 October and 17 October. The union members working for the fire department of the airport have accepted a part of a different bargaining agreement and a fee agreement, so it will not be striking.

Unite Regional Officer Janet Wall said: “This disagreement will inevitably lead to a major deterioration for passengers, but this disagreement is entirely the employer’s fault. So far proposals were rejected because they did not go further enough for low wages and workers to fight financially.

Unite said that personnel struggled with the cost of life costs and fights with the agreement presented to them, the lowest 5% fee and a 4.5% increase to the highest level of 5% will be equal to a real payment cut ”.

A spokesman said that the airport is successful and profitable, increased wages by 5% and investing £ 50 million to expand it, but the workers’ struggle to meet the foundations after years of low wages ”.

Bournemouth serves 950,000 passengers annually and offers 34 arrival in Europe and North Africa. Unite said that flight roads from the airport and the airport will be “seriously affected”.

Ryanir, who serves 20 destinations from the airport, said that he would “normally continue to work” during the strike action.

Express contacted Bournemouth Airport for comment.
