Environmental fears grow as average age of UK cars reaches record high

The average car age on the UK roads reached approximately 10 years of record levels and broke environmental fears.

RAC Foundation, which conducts the research research assistant research, said that the drivers benefit from the developed “building quality ın of modern cars, but this was“ bad news for the environment ”because it slows down the transition to electrical models.

At the end of last year, the average age of the licensed cars in the UK was nine years and 10 months.

This rose from seven years to five months at the end of 2015.

The average Plug-in hybrid was three years and four months old, typically, the battery electric cars were only two years and six months old.

A total of 34 million cars were licensed at the end of last year.

Approximately two (40.7%) were at least 10 years old, 32.7% at the end of 2015.

RAC Foundation Director Steve Gooding said: “On the plus side, the design and construction quality of modern cars for drivers, they look good and they run reliable for a long time.

“The days that rusted before your eyes are good and really behind us.

“In order to hit the 2030 emission reduction objectives of the Climate Change Committee without a deduction for miles, we believe that at the end of the decade, up to 1.3 million battery electric cars should be increased by 10 times at the closing of 2024.

“This will require a great push.”
