Number of meningitis cases investigated in Kent rises to 20 | Meningitis

The number of meningitis cases investigated by the UK Health Safety Agency (UKHSA) in Kent has risen to 20 from 15 previously, the organization said on Wednesday.
Thousands of students in Kent will be offered the vaccine in the coming days as health chiefs deal with an “unprecedented” and “explosive” meningitis outbreak.
The number of cases is expected to increase because the incubation period of the infection (until symptoms appear) is two to 14 days.
The epidemic is considered an unprecedented situation by experts due to the large number of cases that emerged in such a short time.
