Harry and Meghan wanted ‘money shot with King’ – UK visit ‘total mess’ | Royal | News

Commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told the Daily Express: “Meghan and Harry planned this deliberately… [They wanted] The family’s ‘money draw’ with the King. The King later attended the opening of Invictus as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. He intended to leverage them commercially by using emotional blackmail.”

Unable to provide taxpayer-funded security for his wife and children, the duke chose to make the journey alone.

Uncertainty as to who would cross the pond led to an argument over accommodation; Harry initially turned down an offer to stay at Buckingham Palace before making a U-turn when he decided to travel alone.

By this time the offer had been withdrawn; however, the Palace maintained that appropriate hospitality and staffing were no longer available.

Mr Fitzwilliams said: “Harry clearly feels aggrieved. According to Vanity Fair, reports suggest he was close to tears over the security decision.

“He has been evasive about the accommodation offered at the Palace and it is clear that the King is fed up with his wayward son withdrawing access.”

“I don’t see any other members of the Royal Family supporting them,” he added. “Gezi has become a complete disgrace. This proves that they have an international profile, but their insincerity is almost palpable, which is why they are not to be trusted.”

The Palace also suggested that Harry’s lawsuit against Associated Newspapers played a role in the withdrawal of the accommodation offer.
