Trump says he may veto extension of Obamacare subsidies

Jan 11 (Reuters) – U.S. President Donald Trump said on Sunday he could veto legislation expanding federal health insurance subsidies, adding new uncertainty to a debate that pits congressional Republicans against Democrats and threatens to raise premiums for millions of Americans.
The expiration of health insurance tax breaks at the end of 2025 leaves millions of Americans facing significant price increases for coverage.

The Republican-controlled U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday passed Democratic-backed legislation that would restore Affordable Care Act subsidies, with 17 Republicans joining Democrats.
The Republican-controlled Senate has already rejected a similar bill, but House passage could encourage a compromise.
Americans have until Jan. 15 to sign up for ACA coverage this year, but the Trump administration may extend that deadline.
