There was no formal meeting or important announcement, just a short phone call.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said President Donald Trump notified her he got the job with a simple post-election phone call and told her: “By the way, you know, you’re going to be the White House press secretary, right?”
Speaking at the Turning Point USA event at George Washington University on Thursday evening, Leavitt called the moment “the most anti-climatic thing ever” and said the job offer came without any formal process.
“About a week after the election, the president and I were on the phone talking about something, just chatting,” Leavitt said.
