Waymo announces new CFO Steve Fieler

Waymo appoints Google executive Steve Fieler as the autonomous driving company’s new chief financial officer announced On Monday.

“Steve’s extensive experience will be instrumental in guiding us through this next chapter,” Waymo co-CEO Tekedra Mawakana said on LinkedIn. to post.

Mawakana also thanked previous Waymo chief financial officer Elisa de Martel for serving in the role since her appointment in 2022. Waymo declined to provide detailed information about de Martel, and de Martel did not respond to a request for comment.

“We wish him the best as he begins his next chapter,” Mawakana wrote.

According to Waymo, Fieler was a key member of Google’s CFO leadership team, where he served as vice president of planning, investments and investor relations. Before that, Fieler worked as a business finance officer in Google’s “Platforms and Ecosystems” unit, where he was responsible for products such as Android and Chrome.

Before Google, Fieler served as chief financial officer at Google. HP. He has also held various positions at various early-stage companies and General Electric, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Alphabet’s “Other Bets” segment, which includes its Waymo unit, reported third-quarter revenue of $344 million, down from $388 million a year earlier. Losses also increased from $1.12 billion in the third quarter of last year to $1.43 billion in the same period this year.

Waymo now offers commercial service in the Los Angeles area, Phoenix, San Francisco, Atlanta and Austin. The company also announced plans to launch robotaxi services in Miami and Washington, D.C., in 2026, and Waymo said in August it had received permits to begin testing its autonomous vehicles with trained safety drivers in New York City.
