Princess Kate Middleton’s secret hobby and the way the royal family spends their free time brings originality and durability to her public image, royal experts told Fox News Digital.
“Princess Catherine has many amazing hobbies, many of which coincide with her love of the outdoors,” royal expert Helena Chard told Fox News Digital. Kate has taken up her newest hobby, meditation, reportedly under the guidance of celebrity photographer Chris Levine.
“Princess Catherine says the practice can be as beneficial as medication,” Chard said. “Meditation gives it balance and peace and is a winner when it comes to overcoming anxiety.”
Royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital that Kate’s outdoorsy approach has been described as a “rustic renaissance.” “The tidy normal Britishness of its treasured traditions, derived from the wholesomeness of the countryside, makes it even more attractive to middle-class families, as well as to rural voters who thrive on such originality and resilience.”

“It is this profound sincerity towards his pursuit of status that is reflected in YouGov polls, with him being the most popular royal after Prince William,” he added.
While her connection to nature isn’t new, royal commentator Amanda Matta told Fox News Digital that it has become “more central” to the princess’s public image in the past year.
“It works because it’s so easy to frame her time outside as her ‘hobby.'” Kim can’t Were you able to go for a walk in the forest?”
“This reinforces the idea that Kate is down-to-earth and relatable, someone who truly enjoys the same simple pleasures as the rest of us,” Matta added.

Princess Kate is also interested in a number of additional hobbies, including sports.
“When it comes to other hobbies, I think people forget that Kate is really sporty,” Matta told Fox News Digital. “He cycled, windsurfed, climbed rocks and went zip-lining in front of the cameras. There are also sweet stories of him playing rugby with his children in the Anmer Hall garden and going paddleboarding nearby.”
“She once said that her children’s happiest moments were outdoors, whether it was catching tadpoles or cooking in the garden, and that really summed up her priorities,” Matta added. “She’s a mom who, as she recently wrote in her Early Childhood Center article about the ‘disconnection epidemic,’ would rather see her kids in muddy clothes than spend too much screen time.”
According to Matthew, Kate has transformed her royal duties into “something more human.”
“Whether it’s gardening on a charity visit or bug hunting with students, it makes engagements feel natural rather than ceremonial,” the royal expert explained. “After a year defined by cancer recovery, Kate clearly wants to convey realism and perspective. The outdoor images we continue to see speak volumes about this. It’s a visual language of regeneration. Nature has become her shorthand for strength.”
