Tamil Nadu CEO releases final electoral roll; 97.37 lakh names of voters deleted

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik released the latest voter rolls here on Monday and 97.37 lakh voter names have been deleted under various categories.

He said the state currently has 5.67 crore voters.

Addressing a press conference, Patnaik said that the number of voters in the state before the SIR exercise stood at 6.41 crore. Now, 7.40 lakh people in the age group of 18-19 years have been included in the voter roll and 97.37 lakh voter names have been deleted under various categories.
He added that the continuous update will come into effect immediately.
