Kemi Badenoch sacks Robert Jenrick over ‘defection plans’ | Robert Jenrick

Robert Jenrick has been sacked from the shadow cabinet and suspended from the Conservative party after Kemi Badenoch said she had been presented with “undeniable evidence” that he was planning to leave the party.
The shadow justice secretary was Badenoch’s leadership rival.
“I have sacked Robert Jenrick from the shadow cabinet, removed the whip and suspended his membership of the party with immediate effect,” Badenoch said in a statement.
“I have been presented with clear and irrefutable evidence that he secretly planned to defect in a manner designed to cause as much damage as possible to his colleagues in the shadow cabinet and the wider Conservative Party.
“The British people are tired of political psychodrama, and so am I. They saw too much of it in the last government, and they see too much of it in THIS government. I will not repeat these mistakes.”
