Kerala Assembly polls 2026: T.K. Govindan meets K. Sudhakaran, secures assurance of full backing

United Democratic Front (UDF)-backed Independent candidate TK Govindan on Friday met senior Congress leader K. Sudhakaran and sought his support for his candidacy in Taliparamba Assembly constituency; the latter is expected to actively campaign for him in the coming days.
Mr Govindan visited Mr Sudhakaran at his home in Nadal in the afternoon; here the senior leader assured full support and promised to do whatever was necessary to ensure his victory.

“As an independent candidate supported by UDF, I met Mr. Sudhakaran, a very senior leader of the Congress. He assured me of all support in the elections,” Mr. Govindan said. Hindu.

Responding to questions on opposition within the Congress over its decision to support him, including demands for Youth Congress leader Vigil Mohanan to be fielded from Taliparamba, Mr. Govindan said Mr. Sudhakaran had assured him that the issue would be addressed and he need not worry.
UDF had earlier extended support to CPI(M) opponent Mr. Govindan following a decision taken by the State leadership; This led the Congress to refrain from fielding its own candidate in the constituency.
