Kerala local body polls: CPI(M) announces new line-up for Kannur district panchayat polls

Communist Party of India (Marxist) [(CPI)(M)] announced its candidates for the upcoming district panchayat elections; This reflects a mix of experienced public servants and emerging young leaders.

Party district secretary KK Ragesh released the list of 16 candidates in a media briefing on Wednesday, highlighting the organisation’s commitment to grassroots representation and development management.

15 of the 16 candidates are newcomers, signaling a major generational change in the region’s political landscape. District panchayat vice president Binoy Kurien will contest again. The list also includes two current panchayat presidents.

Mr. Ragesh said that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) will seek a new mandate based on the achievements of both the State government and the district panchayat.

“LDF’s track record of transparent and people-oriented governance will once again earn the trust of voters,” he said. He added that LDF and its candidates are focusing on continuous improvement rather than engaging in controversies. “We believe that the public will once again stand with the LDF, appreciating the progress made across sectors,” Mr. Ragesh said.

Party district collector N. Chandran and State committee member TV Rajesh were present.
