GRB bets beyond ghee as value-added dairy heats up competition

Founded in the same year as GRB, Coimbatore-based Milky Mist Dairy Food Ltd took a different path by diversifying into value-added products like paneer, cheese and yoghurt early on, and has since grown into a company. ₹2,350 crore companies in FY25, roughly more than double the GRB ₹1,011 crore revenue. The rise of Milky Mist, which is currently preparing for an initial public offering (IPO), underscores how early bets on diversification and premiumization are reshaping the competitive landscape, forcing legacy players like GRB to rethink both growth and brand strategy in a fragmented market.
