Khammam’s Mahila Mart Shows The Way

Nalgonda: Mahila Mart, a unique attempt by women from his own assistance groups in the city of Khammam, proved that women can do business and grow successfully while competing with corporate companies. Mahila Mart, which was founded with the first investment of RS 60 Lakh, is located near Ambedkar Bhavan on the Wyra Road in Khammam. On average days, it produces 30,000 RS per day, rising to 40,000 RS 50,000 RS on weekends.

The uniqueness of Mahila Mart is that it sells products made and processed by women only from SHGs. From quality goods and an inviting environment to the friendly behavior of the staff, every element attracted loyal customers. In Khammam, Mahila Mart serves as a proof of the success of women -led businesses.

The idea was shaped during the term of office of the regional collector Muzmil Khan, who proposed a special output for SHG products. Opened on May 28, March, since then, only a month and a half of the 4.5 lakh turnover recorded. Currently, 68 women from SHGS and MEPMA supply their products to March. As many elements become fast -selling favorites, the Mahila Samakhya region is now considering involving SHGs in the supply chain.

The product range is varied-poured, wood-based crafts, jute bags and kalamkari fabrics. The shelves of Mahila Mart are similar to the professionally managed corporate retail sales points. To maintain quality and shelf life, a vacuum packaging unit was established behind March for grocery products.

Mahila as part of March, a tea counter has become a hot point for tea lovers in the city and produced 4,500 RS daily and 1.35 lakh per month.

Khammam Region Mahila Samakhya Secretary Kotte Vijaya Lakshmi, Madhira and other towns of the region to establish similar March plans, he said. This expansion will not only increase the income of the SHG women by providing better market access, but will also strengthen them towards financial self -sufficiency. Khammam SHG, the business model can be a source of inspiration for women throughout the country, he added.

Currently, six women are being employed in Mahila in Khammam in March. “Finally, the quality that attracts customers in any shop. We definitely believe it,” he said.
